Listen, real poetry doesn't say anything; it just ticks off the possibilities. Opens all
doors. You can walk through anyone that suits you - Jim Morrison
I wouldn't mind dying in a plane crash. It'd be a good way to go. I don't want to die in
my sleep, or of old age, or OD...I want to feel what it's like. I want to taste it, hear it, smell it. Death is only going
to happen to you once; I don't want to miss it - Jim Morrison
Let's just say I was testing the bounds of reality. I was curious to see what would happen.
That's all it was: curiosity - Jim Morrison
The future is uncertain and the end is always near - Jim Morrison
Break on Through: The Lasting Legacy of The Doors - To commemorate the 40th anniversary of The Doors, The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland, Ohio has opened
a new exhibit featuring Doors items. The Doors were inducted into the HOF in 1993 and the Hall opened in 1995, it wasted no
time in giving due credit and recognition to the Doors with an extensive Jim Morrison section that includes artifacts such
as Jim’s cub scout uniform, his report cards, college diploma and a host of other things donated by his family.

of important instances during the bands time together. Sadly, it ends with the year 1969.

and how to purchase her art. She offers paintings of Alice Cooper, KISS and Marilyn Manson also.

HWY: An American Pastoral (1969) - HWY is a stark 51 minute 7 second film, almost completely without dialog, starring Jim Morrison,
as a hitchhiker in the desert, hitching his way to L.A. Morrison also co-wrote and co-produced the film. The references to
'60s cinema are abundant and the influences of Jodorowsky, Antonioni, Warhol, Anger and Godard seem to be present. Morrison's
infamous 1967 Shelby GT500, driven by him, appears in the film also. Copies can usually be found on ebay for purchase and
I do recommend getting one. Read an in-depth review here.
Jimmy Fallon as Jim Morrison performing The Reading Rainbow theme
Here is a video of that night's performance. Too freakin awesome and, in my opinion, one of the best copy cat performances
of The Doors...not just Jimmy Fallon...the rest of the band as well.
The End for The Doors
Ray Manzarek remembers
The Doors' last concert well. It was the night singer Jim Morrison's spirit left his body, as recalled by Manzarek, though
it would return to linger for another few months. The date was December 12, 1970; The Doors were playing a large, dank waterfront
venue, called The Warehouse, in New Orleans. Hunched over his keyboard, Manzarek says, he felt Morrison ''leave the stage''
— but Morrison's body was standing stock-still in front of the microphone.
The concert begins nomally but then about halfway through, Jim
begins to completely omit key lyrics not seemingly in the music at all and then just slumps against the microphone stand as
if it were the only thing holding him upright. A little later he tries to tell a few jokes that nobody can understand and
the place begins to get quiet as everyone begins to realize something is wrong. The band omits a lot of the song list and
jumps to "Light My Fire". At this point Jim has been barely singing along, if not mumbling the lyrics to songs as he uses
the mic stand for support - it is a sad sight!
During "Light My Fire", Jim loses all composure and slumps down
on the drum riser and does not even get up. When it is his time to sing - he doesn't even budge. The band goes through their
parts again waiting for Jim. John kicks Jim and shoves him forward. Jim then reluctantly moves towards the front of the stage
and does his best to sing along but cannot even come close. When the singer's 'spirit' returned, it was with a vengeance:
He smashed a hole through the stage with the mike stand, throws the stand and storms off the stage leaving the band alone
and the audience confused to say the least. This caused an early end to the concert and provided a suitably dramatic finish
to what turned out to be the Doors' final performance with Morrison.
The Death of Jim Morrison
James Douglas "Jim" Morrison (December 8, 1943 – July 3, 1971) From a young age, Morrison developed
an alcohol dependency which led to his death at the age of 27 in Paris. He is alleged to have died of a heroin overdose, but
as no autopsy was performed, the exact cause of his death is still disputed. In the official account of his death, he was found
in a Paris apartment bathtub (at 17–19 rue Beautreillis, 4th arrondissement) by Pam Courson. Pursuant to French law,
no autopsy was performed because the medical examiner stated that there was no evidence of foul play. The absence of an official
autopsy has left many questions regarding Morrison's cause of death. In Wonderland Avenue, Danny Sugerman discussed
his encounter with Courson after she returned to the United States. According to Sugerman's account, Courson stated that Morrison
had died of a heroin overdose, having inhaled what he believed to be cocaine. Sugerman added that Courson had given him numerous
contradictory versions of Morrison's death, saying at times that she had killed Morrison, or that his death was her fault.
Courson's story of Morrison's unintentional ingestion of heroin, followed by his accidental overdose, is supported by the
confession of Alain Ronay, who has written that Morrison died of a hemorrhage after snorting Courson's heroin, and that Courson
nodded off instead of phoning for medical help, leaving Morrison bleeding to death. For further reading, click here
